What to Do If You Get Phished
If you receive a Tech CU email that you think may be spoofed, you may always contact us at (800) 553-0880 or send us a message to verify if the email is legitimate.
- If you have any doubts about the authenticity of a message, don’t click on any link in it.
- Don’t fill out forms in e-mail messages that ask for personal or financial information.
- Make sure an online application or form is secure before filling in your personal/financial information. Look for the “lock” symbol on your browser or check your browsers address bar - it should be "https://" rather than just "http://"
- Consider getting a browser toolbar, such as EarthLink ScamBlocker, that alerts when you visit a known phishing site.
- Log into your online accounts on a regular basis. Keep an eye on your account activity and watch for anything suspicious.
- Keep your browser up to date with the latest security patches. Visit your browser developer’s website for information.
- When in doubt, call the company who was supposed to have sent the message and verify that it is legitimate. Find the phone number independently; do not use a number given in a questionable e-mail.
