Important Fraud Alert to protect your Visa CheckCard
Due to increased fraud activity targeting Visa CheckCard holders in select foreign countries, Tech CU has introduced new protective measures to help guard your accounts from perpetrators.
In recent months there has been a significant increase in PIN-based withdrawals against cardholder account at Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) in select countries. To protect your assets while traveling, Tech CU is blocking members from using their Visa CheckCards for all transactions in the following countries.
- Spain
- Russia
- Estonia
- Kazakhstan
- Poland
- Ukraine
- Latvia
The list of the above countries will be updated as the situation changes. Please check back when planning your trip abroad.
Your alternatives
Here are your choices, when you can’t use your CheckCard:
- Get a regular ATM Card, which you can use to withdraw cash at ATMs in the blocked countries. To obtain your new ATM card, visit any of our Financial Centers, call (800) 553-0880, or send your request to us in a secured email from your Online Banking account.
- To make purchases, another option is to use your Tech CU credit card.
- Lastly, consider bringing traveler’s cheques.
What to do if your card or PIN are compromised
Should you learn that either your card number or PIN has been compromised, please contact a Tech CU representative at 1-800-553-0880. After business hours, you can call (800) 754-4128 to report a lost or stolen CheckCard.
