Effective Date: 7/21/2004
At Tech CU we work hard to protect your privacy. By following the provided tips and links you can maximize your safety online and safeguard your right to privacy.
Web Browsers
To take full advantage of SSL technology we recommend that you use a browser with strong encryption technology such as Netscape's Navigator version 4.5 and above or Microsoft's Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher. You can download these browsers directly from Netscape or Microsoft.
Use Your Own PC
Try to use you own PC to access Online Banking, eVision or any other service where you are required to enter your username and password, or use your credit card. Other PCs may have programs installed in them that can capture your information.
Are You Safe from Hackers?
How secure is your computer from hackers? You can go to ShieldsUp to find out and test your system.
Anti-Virus Software
Make sure you install an anti-virus program on your computer. Viruses known as Trojan Horses can by sent to you via email and capture important information stored in your computer such as passwords or documents and send them to someone else. New viruses appear almost daily so it is important to update your virus software frequently. Another way to protect yourself is not to open emails from unknown sources.
Protect You Password and Login Information
Never share your password and member number with anyone. Remember, Tech CU will never send you an unsolicited email requesting your password and member number information.
Shredding Documents
It is not unusual for criminals to go through your trash cans seeking information about you such as credit card numbers, loan pre-approvals, or convenience checks. For your safety, always shred documents such as cash advance checks, statements, and credit card bills before you re cycle..
