Technology Credit Union targets “safety conscious” members through wireless agreement with Credit Union Wireless
San Jose, CA (August 20, 2007)—Technology Credit Union (Tech CU), a $1.2 billion credit union in Silicon Valley, will begin offering low-cost cell phone service from Credit Union Wireless to its members in August. Tech CU is among the first credit unions in California to offer the low-cost wireless program, featuring a $10 cellular plan now available to all members.
CU Wireless General Manager Chris Giles believes the agreement will have a positive impact on all those involved. “Tech CU members now have access to the safety and convenience of a cell phone without the high monthly cost and long-term contracts usually associated with wireless service,” Giles said. “Tech CU is able to offer their members a valuable and unique service which will be a competitive advantage in the financial service marketplace, and CU Wireless gains an important client: one of the most progressive, forward-looking credit unions in the country.”
“Contrary to popular belief, not everyone in Silicon Valley has a cell phone,” said Tech CU’s VP of Marketing Kathleen Litman. “This service fills a real need for members who want to avoid a long-term wireless contract or for low-use members who just want the peace of mind of having a cell phone for emergency purposes.”
